Black Anon

Makes Me Wanna Holla Marcus Kwame Anderson

The Twelve Steps of Black Anon
  1. We admitted we were powerless over racists and racist behavior - that our lives had become unmanageable because we gave them our power.
  2. We came to believe that a Higher Power (or God) - greater than the racists and racist behavior -  could restore us to sanity.
  3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the guidance and care of a Higher Power (or God).
  4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of the influence of racists and racist behavior in our lives, and our own response behavior.
  5. We admitted to a Higher Power (or God), to ourselves, and to another trustworthy survivor, the exact nature of the influence of racists and racist behavior in our lives, and our response behavior.
  6. We were entirely ready to have a Higher Power (or God) help us to remove all the influence of racists and racist behavior from our lives, and to help us change our response behavior.
  7. We ask a Higher Power (or God) to help us remove all the influence of the racists and racist behavior from our lives, and to help us change our response behavior.
  8. We made a list of all the racists and racist behaviors that have harmed us, and became willing to make amends to ourselves.
  9. We made direct amends to ourselves, wherever possible, except when to do so would harm ourselves or others.
  10. We continued to take inventory and when we would still find the influence of racists or racist behavior in our lives, promptly admitted it.
  11. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with a Higher Power(or God), praying only for knowledge of the will of this Higher Power (or God) for us - instead of the will and influence of racists - and the power to carry that out.
  12. We have had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, and we tried to carry this message to other Black People who are influenced by racists or racist behavior, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
Note that this Higher Power (or God) is within us, not without us.
